In the Infant room we love the story the Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson. We learned lots of new and interesting words like; habitat, predator, creature, stroll and poisonous. We made clay models of the Gruffalo and we also made a great display of the Gruffalo story for everyone to see. We wrote some of our favourites lines from the story too, like 'owl ice-cream, scrambled snake, fox crumble', and 'A gruffalo, whats a Gruffalo? Are you afraid of the great big Gruffalo??
Bird watching
Junior and Senior Infants learned lots of facts about birds that live in Ireland. We learned about the naughty cuckoo bird who lay their eggs in other birds nests. We looked out for our favourite Irish bird; the Robin. He is a very special bird as he is santa's little helper and is always watching the boys and girls in Scoil Chaitriona. We spent some time bird watching where we had to be as quiet as mice so we didn't scare any of the birds away. This was hard at times because we got so excited when we saw a bird flying near us.
