FANTASTIC GYMNASTICS The children have really been enjoying their gymnastics lessons in the hall.
SCOIL CHAITRÍONA AWARDS We are delighted to share the good news that we have been awarded our 9th Green Flag for Global Citizenship and Travel. Our Green School's committee have been working very hard over the past two years to achieve this award. We have also been awarded the Research Ireland Curious Mind Gold Standard award for our work in STEM throughout the year. These achievements could not have been realized without the hard work of our children and teachers. It is a testament to their dedication to making a difference to the environment and expanding their knowledge in STEM.
Ceremony of Light 16/5/'25 - Our 5th and 6th Class had their Ceremony of Light with their parents present in our school hall this Friday. It was such a pleasure to hold such an important ceremony finally in our own school hall. This ceremony is a very important step in the children's preparation for Confirmation which will take place at the end of the month. Well done to our Confirmation Class and their teacher Ms. Armitage and many thanks to Mary, Breda and Geraldine for all their assistance.
Another Clash of the Ash 13/5/'25 - Well done to our girls who represented Scoil Chaitríona in the Cumann na mBunscoil camogie blitz in Doon. They played so well but unfortunately it wasn't their day. Thanks to Sheila and Darragh for treating them to ice creams and drinks after the matches.
Communion Class 9/5/'25 - Congratulations to our 2nd Class who received their First Holy Communion in St. Michael's Church. They were so well prepared by their teacher Ms. O' Dwyer and the ceremony was beautiful. A huge thank you to all our children who sang in the children's choir and filled the church with their voices.
Sports in UL 8/5/'25 - Our children had a lovely day out in UL and competed in the running races. They also got to see a few celebrities while they were there.
The Clash of the Ash 8/5/'25 - A good day out for our hurlers in the Cumann na mBunscoil hurling blitz. A win against Bearna and a loss against Oola and sadly we lost to our old rivals, Cloverfield. A great team of boys who can be very proud of their efforts.
WELL DONE MS. CUSACK A huge congratulations to our own Ms. Cusack who ran the Regeneron Limerick Marathon in aid of Cork University Hospital for our own Shauna and raised a huge amount of money for the hospital. We are very proud of you Ms. Cusack.
Preparations for Confirmation 2/4/'25 - Our 5th and 6th Class enjoyed a retreat and nature walk in the beautiful Glenstal Abbey with Br. Anthony, in preparation for their Confirmation.
MINDFULNESS MATTERS 2/4/'25 - 3rd and 4th class enjoyed a Mindfulness workshop in the local library. Many thanks to Mark for organising it.
SCOOTER FUN 2/4/'25 - Juniors, Seniors, First and Second Class enjoyed a Scooter workshop in the yard.
EASTER CELEBRATIONS 11/3/'25 - We can't believe that Easter has come around so quickly. We celebrated with our annual Easter Egg Hunt around the school grounds and every child went home with a delicious Easter egg. We held our Parent's Association Raffle and a huge thank you to all who supported our draw and congratulations to all our winners. We also held a special "Guess the Name of the Bunny" competition, in aid of Cork University Hospital who helped our own Shauna so much. Congratulations to the winners, all who helped to organise the competition and all who supported this worthy cause.
TEAM LIMERICK CLEAN UP 10/3/'25 - Scoil Chaitríona did their civic duty and went out in the village with their pickers and gloves and helped to keep Cappamore clean. The children often go out for a clean up in the village and are very conscious about making an effort to keep Cappamore litter free.
Skipping in the Sun Our infants enjoyed playing with the skipping ropes in the sunshine as part of our Active Week. The school took part in a Skipathon, Zumba and running activities around the school grounds with our annual "Active Showcase". Well done to our Active committee for all their hard work.
Soccer Superstars 25/3/'25 - Congratulations to our soccer team who are through to the next round in the FUTSAL tournament in Seanchoill. We had a great day out there and look forward to the final.
Yoga in the Library 25/3/'25 - Our infants enjoyed a lovey relaxing yoga session in the local library. Many thanks to our librarian Mark for organising it.
LEGO DAY 14/3/'25 - We all had a brilliant day building a lego city with Lisa from BrickxClub Limerick.. All classes came had a session where they created a piece for our Lego City.
First Confession 14/3/'25 - Congratulations to our children in 2nd class who celebrated their First Confession in St. Michael's Church. Many thanks to their teacher Ms. O' Dwyer who prepared them so well.

WORLD BOOK DAY THURSDAY 6th of MARCH 6/3/'25 - We celebrated World Book Day across the school with visits to the library, buddy reading between the senior and junior classes, bring your favourite book to school, quizzes and kahoots. We also enjoyed the Scholastic Book Fair again in the school and the children have been very busy purchasing new books and using their book tokens.
Pancake Tuesday 4/3/'25 - The children all really enjoyed the pancakes served to them by the Student's Council. There were some very strange combinations of toppings but they went down a treat.
FUTSAL COMPETITION 3/3/'25 - Congratulations to our boys and girls who took part in the FUTSAL competition. The children from 4th, 5th and 6th class all played so well and the boys are now moving onto the next round. Many thanks to Ms. Sheehy for training them.
Peace Proms 2025 1/3/'25 - What an amazing experience we all had in UL performing in Peace Proms 2025. The singing, the orchestra, the performances, the spectacle and the audience all lent itself to a night to remember. The children and staff worked very hard rehearsing especially in the last few weeks. Well done to all children and a huge thank you to the staff who attended with the children and to all the family members who came along to support us.
CREATIVE FEBRUARY 2025 As a Creative School affiliated with the Creative Schools Arts Programme supported by the Arts Council, we put a special emphasis on the arts especially in February. Here is a little snippet of what we got up to this February.
GREEN SCHOOLS 27/02/'25 - Our school is a very active GREEN SCHOOL and we have been very busy looking after our local environment and caring about what impact we are making on our world. Our junior and senior classes went for a Spring Clean outside the school to clean up the locality. Many thanks to our Green Schools Committee for organising this. We also held a competition for a new Green Schools Travel Slogan which was won by Aoife Marie and congratulations to our other winners in the Big Travel Challenge colouring and letter writing competition.
ZUMBA FUN All classes have enjoyed zumba lessons with Christine since January. The children have loved the dance and fitness element to this energetic programme. We look forward to welcoming Christine back for our Active Week in April.
GIRLS INDOOR HURLING 11/2/'25 - The girls played really well today in the Cumann na mBunscoil Indoor Camogie Blitz. They had a tough group but fought hard in all three games against Crecora, Murroe and Knockea. Most importantly they enjoyed the occasion.
BOYS INDOOR HURLING 30/01/'25 - The boys from 2nd, 3rd and 4th class played in the Cumann na mBunscoil East Limerick Indoor Hurling Blitz. They showed great sportsmanship playing against Doon, Caherelly and Tineteriffe.
MONSTER RAFFLE We held our monster Christmas raffle today and every child was lucky enough to win a prize. Our thanks to all the staff of Scoil Chaitríona who donated all the prizes. We raised an amazing €379.75 from our children's raffle. Many thanks for all your support.
A SURPRISE VISIT FROM SANTA Santa came to Scoil Chaitríona today despite having such a busy schedule. He surprised every boy and girl with a selection box and promised them all that they are on the nice list.
THANK YOU AND HAPPY CHRISTMAS FROM SCOIL CHAITRÍONA A huge thank you to all the families and friends and past pupils who attended our Christmas Pageant last night. It was a roaring success and the children are on cloud nine after their performance. Each and every one of them are stars. Thank you all for supporting our pageant and we would like to let you know that we raised €670 from ticket sales. This money will be put towards resources, buses and events for the children.
PAGEANT NIGHT Our angels are angelic, our shepherds are in ship shape and our wise men have been studying hard. We cannot wait to welcome you all to our pageant tonight. The girls and boys have worked so hard over the past two weeks and we couldn't be more proud of them.
CHRISTMAS PAGEANT 2024 We are very busy acting, singing and dancing and can't wait to bring our fabulous production of "NO ROOM AT THE INN", to all the people of Cappamore on Tuesday the 17th of December at 7.30pm in St. Michael's Church. Tickets are on sale in the school in the morning from Monday the 9th of December. We look forward to seeing you there.
CIRCUS FUN AT THE LIBRARY The children had an amazing experience with Arran Towers Tallest to Smallest circus at the local library.
Creative Schools 21/11/'24 - We had a lovely visit from our Creative Schools coordinator, Lisa, who invited our Student's Council members to join her in a workshop to make "Wish Sticks" exploring the use of natural materials and sharing the mythological connection with the children.
Animal Antics in the Library 15/11/'24 - The children had a really enjoyable day with Animal Magic in the library and got to meet some very slimy and furry friends.
Trip to the Cinema Ms. Power's class had a lovely visit to the cinema to see Paddington in Peru.
Authors Visit 13/11/'24 - We had a lovely visit from author and illustrator Alan Nolan who introduced us to his novel - Animal Crackers. The children had a very entertaining visit.
Christmas Shoebox Appeal 11/11/'24 - Well done to all our children for bringing almost 40 shoeboxes for this years Shoebox Appeal. It is very important to give to others as we approach the Christmas season.
Library Visit with Éanna Ní Lamhna 6/11/'24 - The children paid a visit to the library where they met the renowned author, presenter, biologist and environmentalist Éanna Ní Lamhna who gave them a very interesting talk on wildlife. Thanks to Mark in the library for facilitating it .
HALLOWEEN FUN We had a brilliant Halloween celebration in the school with outstanding costumes, a cake sale and an Active School Halloween themed stations. Well done to all the children and parents for making such a huge effort with the costumes and the baking. Our Students Council took charge of our cake sale and our Active School Committee were responsible for the Spooky Stations. It is wonderful to see our children taking responsibility and leadership roles in our school.
CAPPAMORE CHAMPIONS Well done to our Gaelic Football Cumann na mBunscoil mixed team who won the final against Cloverfield. It was a brilliant match and the children played their hearts out and brought home the trophy. Our thanks to Ms. Sheehy and Ms. Power for training the children. Scoil Chaitríona Abú!!!

TRIP TO CURRAGHCHASE 10/10/'24 - We had a beautiful Autumnal day in Curraghchase. The children learnt a lot from the experts from Coillte and engaged in Eco Art where they designed habitats for small animals using the foliage and materials on the floor of the forest. It was such a lovely day.
SUPERHERO DAY for Special Olympics 4/10/'24 - We celebrated Super Hero day in Scoil Chaitríona to raise money for Special Olympics Ireland. We had many Batmen and Wonderwomen and plenty of Soccer Super Heroes. Our day was topped off by a lovely treat from the Parent's Association - an ice cream for every child with toppings. Well done to all and €211.20 was raised and has been sent to Special Olympics Ireland. Well done to our Student's Council for helping out on the day.
FOOTBALL BLITZ IN DOON 27/9/'24 Well done to our players from 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th who played in the football blitz that was organised by Scoil na Tríonóide Naofa, Doon. The children had a great day out and were presented with medals by Limerick hurler Barry Murphy
OPENING OF THE YEAR/ MERCY DAY MASS 27/9/'24 - A huge thank you to all the parents who attended our Opening of the Year/ Mercy Day Mass. Our children sang so beautifully (even if we were missing a lot who had attended the hurling/ camogie blitz) and the children performed all their jobs during the mass so well. We are very proud of you.
SNA APPRECIATION DAY 27/9/'24 - On Thursday the 27th of September the work that all SNAS in our primary and secondary schools was recognised and appreciated. We acknowledged all the amazing work our SNAs do everyday, helping our children and going above and beyond with all that they do. Our SNAs were presented with certificates of appreciation and were given a party in the staff room. We thank them all for the contribution they make everyday in our school.
SCHOOL WALK 24//9/'24- We were very lucky with the weather for our school walk. Our sincere thanks to all our families for their fundraising efforts. We raised an amazing €1951.30 for the school. The children and staff really enjoyed the beautiful autumnal day out in the fresh air. A big thank you to the Parents Association for supplying the children with sweets and drinks on the day.
A LOVELY DAY IN SCOIL CHAITRÍONA 6/9/'24 - We had a great day when we welcomed back Ger with all his feathered, furry and funny friends. The children really enjoy it when all the animals come to visit. Ger's big pig really enjoyed exploring our garden.
