2020-2021
And so we have arrived at the end of another school year. It was not the year we had hoped for but we made the best of it and we definitely ended on a high note. Thank you to all the children for their hard work and for the support of all the parents and guardians through the year. We all deserve a well earned break now and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 30th of August.
25/6/'21:Today marks a huge achievement by the children and staff of Scoil Chaitríona. Today we raise our Active Flag, which we were awarded for bringing awareness, activity and fun to the children of Scoil Chaitríona. We wish to thank Mrs. Blake for sharing her experience with the project and giving so much encouragement to us all. We especially wish to thank Ms. Sheehy for all the work she put into our application and organising the funfilled activities for the children. Well done Scoil Chaitríona and keep up all activity over the summer.
24/6/'21: Today our 6th Class graduated and are now ready to move forward with their education and their lives and head off on a new adventure to secondary school. Mrs. Smith and Breda organised a really special graduation ceremony and all the children were presented with their certificates and gifts. To mark the end of their primary school years the 6th class made mosaic mirrors and presented them to each of the classes. We wish all the children a very happy summer and hope they look back fondly on the years they spent with us in Scoil Chaitríona.
The highlight of our Active Week was our Sports Day in the local GAA Field. Many thanks Cappamore GAA for the use of the field and facilities. The children had the best day of the year and it was topped off by a big treat - the ice cream van came and every child got a well deserved cone, as big as they wished. Thank you Mrs. Blake for organising this for the children. Everyone had a great day and it was a fantastic finish to a brilliant Active Week.
6th Class took on the Staff of Scoil Chaitríona in dodgeball and basketball this week. The boys and girls in 6th class were really surprised at how sporty and skillful the staff were.
Our pupils performed a range of different activities as part of our Active Week. They all had a wonderful time and had loads of fun.
On Tuesday for Active Week we had our a gymnastics teacher visit the school and give all the children a really good stretch.
As part of our Active Week we had a Wellness Day on Monday and on such a lovely sunny day the children had a wonderful time in the company of their Teddies in the school garden. It was a really relaxing day.
A Message from the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins,
to the children of Ireland
Owing to the restrictions imposed upon us due to covid, we unfortunately are not having an Open Day for our new entrants. We want to share as much important information with our families and ask you to look through this detailed presentation, prepared by our Infant teacher - Ms Sheehy. We hope that it answers a lot of your questions and we look forward to welcoming all our new students after the Summer holidays.

Thank You Mr. Hanley
10/6/'21 Today we said goodbye to Mr. Cathal Hanley who has been with us since September, teaching the infant class while Ms. Sheehy was on maternity leave and more recently as our substitute Special Ed Teacher. Mr. Hanley was a wonderful asset to our staff and his caring nature was felt throughout the whole school. He will be missed by all the children and the staff and we wish him well in the future. Pictured here is Ms Blake, our Principal, making a small presentation to Mr. Hanley on his last day in Scoil Chaitríona.
A Fabulous Day for Our School Walk
4/6/'21 We thoroughly enjoyed our school walk last Friday. Our Infant Class pounded around The Pound and were very conscious of road safety, wearing their high vis jackets and crossing the roads with great care. The rest of the school took off at speed for a 7km walk, with the assistance of our volunteer parents and staff. All arrived back to school safe and sound to lovely treats provided by our Parent's Association. Many thanks to all our volunteer parents who stewarded, provided lifts and assisted in the organisation of this event. We will update you shortly on the amount of money raised for the purchase of our PM Books.
Congratulations to 2nd Class on their First Confession

31/5/'21 News for the month of May
- We are now facing into our last month in school in what has been an exceptional year. Despite this we have been able to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and availed of this good weather to have a picnic outside.
- Today we held on to our tradition of the May Procession and held it outdoors in the sunshine in front of the convent. The children were exceptional and participated in a reverent and prayerful manner. Well done.
- We were very fortunate to receive access to stencils for school yard games from Limerick Sports Partnership. Many thanks to our staff, especially our caretaker Fergus, who worked tirelessly to paint these stencils onto the yard for the children's enjoyment. They are already making the most of them.

7/5/'21- Well done to all the children and staff for giving our school grounds and village a good spring clean. In Scoil Chaitríona we aim to continue the work of our Green School Initiative and care for our local environment. Many thanks to Team Limerick Clean Up for supplying us all with high viz vests, gloves, litter pickers and bags.
Well done to all our Infants
7/5/'21 - For eight weeks the infant class have undergone intensive tuition twice a day, taking part in a Phonological and Narrative Programme to help them in developing their literacy skills. Our two SETs, Mrs. Blake and Mrs. Nally were involved with the class teachers, Mr. Hanley and Ms. Sheehy in administering the programme. There was a huge amount of work involved in the preparation and presentation of this programme but it has been so worthwhile. The children enjoyed and learned from all the activities and games and the teachers saw how the children progressed so rapidly from day one. Well done to all the children and teachers in completing this.

Scoil Chaitríona

We have very fond memories of last years celebration with the school full to the brim with our wonderful grandparents. This year the Corona Virus has kept us all apart. We want all our grandparents to know that you are always in the hearts of the children of Scoil Chaitróna and they all look forward to giving you a real hug instead of the virtual ones we have had to become used to. We look forward to that day. Here is a little prayer for all our grandparents.

Please let us know when you have completed your 5km, how many people in your family completed it and send all pictures to [email protected].
